The main difference with these 3 compressors is the horsepower. In fact, each of these 3 machines has a different horsepower: 2, 3 or 4.

The first listed above is the Hyundai 100L 2Hp model. This has all the tank capacity you need, but is less powerful than the other two, so is better for small-medium tasks.

The second Hyundai compressor on the list is the 100L 4HP model. This is the most powerful of the three compressors here. and the best part? It’s both oil free AND quiet!

The Nuair 100L 3HP compressor is a great middle ground compressor for general tasks. The tank is big enough to get much done, and it offers good horsepower for those slightly heavier tasks.

Portable Air Compressor FAQ

What are the benefits of a portable air compressor?

A portable air compressor is hugely beneficial for many reasons. Firstly, the fact that they are smaller than static compressors and have wheels and/or a handle make them easier to move to where you need them with minimal effort.

Secondly, they can often handle a large variation of tasks such as inflating tyres, powering air tools, cleaning, spraying and blowing.

In most cases, portable air compressors run from electric, making them ideal for home use and more accessible in different environments.

What air compressor is good for home use?

Any of the compressors listed above are good for your home garage. The main you thing you ned to keep in mind is what you will be using the compressor for. For more infrequent use and smaller tasks you will most likely need a compressor that is on the smaller end of the scale – so looking at our ranges below 10 litres or with the 24 litre tank.

If you are a very keen hobbyist or perhaps a small workshop in which the compressor will be used more frequently, you may need a compressor with a bigger tank, so perhaps a 50 litre or 100 litre receiver may be better.

Are portable air compressors worth buying?

In our opinion, yes, although it does of course depend on what you intend to use it for. A portable air compressor is versatile and can perform a range of different tasks, making it a great purchase for keen DIYers, hobbyists and workshops. However, if you were looking to buy one just to inflate your tyres every 6 months, then it’s probably better that you save your money and just buy a good tyre inflator instead!
